COVER SEND FROM CHINKIANG TO USA

A Chinkiang cover franked by a strip of 5, 2 cents CIP stamps was canceled by 3 strokes of the Chinkiang Pa-Kau (111 121) on the back of the cover.
On the front of the cover is a Chinkiang Bilingual cancel of 6 FEB 01 and a 10 sen Japanese stamp canceled by a Shanghai IJPO cancel of 9 FEB 01.
Shanghai Bilingual transit and Peoria receiving also to the back of the cover.

  • SHANGHAI PA-KAU
COVER USED LOCALLY IN SHANGHAI

A cover send locally in Shanghai with the special 1/2c. rate only for local mail for Shanghai and the stamp canceled by a Shanghai Pa-Kau (121 111).
The Shanghai Pa-kau is a mirror image as the above Chinkiang Pa-kau, but the last solid line of the 111 is thick whereas the line in the Chinkiang Pa-Kau is thin. These features of thick and thin lines and the wide and narrow gaps between these lines is a good tools for separating the towns with mirror image even on single stamp as long as there is a full cancel.
